Philip Glenister

Philip Haywood Glenister is an English actor, best known for his role as DCI Gene Hunt on the BBC series Life on Mars and its sequel Ashes to Ashes. He is also known for playing David Murdoch in Prey and Trevor Gunn in Big School.

Glenister was born in Harrow, Middlesex, and grew up in Hatch End. He is the son of director John Glenister and the brother of fellow actor Robert Glenister. He attended Blackwell Secondary School , and with the encouragement of his thensisterinlaw Amanda Redman, he pursued acting and attended drama school at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
